After a firsthand look at what could be the future of Steel Point, Bridgeport?s mayor has turned up the heat on the long-awaited development of the proposed ?city within a city.?
A dozen delegates joined Mayor John Fabrizi (D) in Miami over the weekend to look at a similar project being built by the same developer as Steel Point, called Midtown Miami. The mayor says both projects cover more than 50 acres of land and both sit in the middle of economically challenged communities. He says the project also includes places for people to live, shop and walk as well as a thriving waterfront.
Meantime, city officials must first make a deal with the remaining holdout, Pequonnock Yacht Club. The development agreement must then be finalized.
