A Stratford woman battling a brain tumor, foreclosure and the extremely cold weather now has no heat in her home, and members of a Facebook group are trying to help.
Roberta Gail Rudolph, 62, was admitted to the intensive care unit at Bridgeport Hospital last Thursday, suffering from severe seizures. That's when doctors found the tumor, she says, compounding her other problems.
So she turned to social media for help, appealing to the Stratford Ladies Group of Connecticut. A member named Marily Brito has taken charge of the effort to raise money to fix Rudolph's furnace and buy heating oil.
"We are trying to help her to feel better and to have a better life," Brito says. "Everybody deserves to have a nice life. The first time that I saw her, she was fragile, feeling so bad and screaming for somebody to hold her hands."
Rudolph says she's grateful for the help she's received from the group over the past few days.
"How fantastic they are," she says of the Stratford Ladies Group.
