Families enjoyed one of their last good beach days before the start of Fairfield's new school year on Thursday.

With temperatures creeping into the 90s Tuesday, students from pre-K all the way through college were doing their best to stay cool at Lake Mohegan, going for a swim, getting a cool drink or dousing themselves at the splash park.

Parents say it's important to let kids enjoy the last gasp of summer.

The manager at the concession stand says it was even busier over the last few days, but with orientations in full swing for students entering the high schools and middle schools in town, it looks like things might finally be slowing down for the fall season.
