The Fairfield Fire Department is replacing smoke detector batteries for seniors as part of a campaign for National Fire Prevention Month.
Firefighters are visiting around 300 homes in town.
It's part of a community-wide fire prevention effort for National Fire Prevention Month.
The fire department has been taking part in the initiative for more than 15 years, and has replaced thousands of batteries since the program started making sure the senior population remains as safe as possible in the event of a fire.
Seniors interested in the program can contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at (203) 254-4720 from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
