Fairfield mom wants safety measures at intersection
A Fairfield mother is calling for safety precautions at the intersection of Fairfield Woods Road and Melville Avenue, where drivers are prone to speeding and running red lights.
Cristin McCarthy Vahey crosses the intersection everyday to bring her daughter to school. She says she fears someone will die crossing the street. McCarthy Vahey hopes police act and make changes before more accidents occur.
Local police say they pay close attention to the intersection because of complaints like McCarthy Vahey?s. Such complaints have prompted police to watch the intersection closely and consider adding more signs or patrol cars.
The police commission is set to vote on potential changes next week.
