Charlie Capalbo's family says doctors found leukemia last Wednesday for a second time.
The former Fairfield goalie is now battling cancer for the third time in four years.
Capalbo is back at Boston's Children's Hospital where doctors Friday morning did chemotherapy treatments in his spine as they try to isolate the cancer.
Just like his last two bouts with cancer, Capalbo has been surrounded by family.
He has beat cancer twice and had a bone marrow transplant from his brother Will.
From his hospital bed Capalbo said he is grateful for all the support from the community.
"I just wanted to take a quick second and thank everybody for your kind words and support. This has been the scariest diagnosis yet, most daunting, but words can't describe how much of an impact your support and everything has had on my family and I," he said.
Doctors say it's too early to give Capalbo a prognosis, but they are doing everything they can to get the 22-year-old through a third diagnosis.
A GoFundMe page for Capalbo raised close to $400,000.
