Fairfield police are investigating a report of a boy being approached in the parking lot of the Rite Aid on the Post Road.
Police say the boy was waiting outside the store for his mother Friday when a brown or tan van pulled up.
They say the man inside made inappropriate comments and offered the boy a gift.
Police say the boy said no and backed away and the van left.
News 12 is told the boy is of middle school age.
Police are using this incident as a reminder of what children should do if approached by someone they do not know.
Anyone with information on the man or the van he was in is asked to call Fairfield police.
