? Two Connecticut car aficionados are gearing up for another win in the ultimate road trip across America.
Drew Wikstom and Mark Davis, who work at a Fairfield car dealership, are racing their Porsche 911 for the fifth time in the ?Cannonball One Lap of America.? The drivers started their journey Saturday and will take turns on 11 tracks across the country reaching speeds of up to 200 miles per hour. Davis and Wikstom prepared for the race by cutting back on junk food and learning how to drive while sleep deprived.
The duo has several sponsors, but say they?re not racing for the money. Wikstom and Davis say they?ve taken in some great sightseeing and had some close calls on the track with other cars. Their skilled driving paid off, with two consecutive overall wins. They?re hoping for a third win when they finish the event in eight days.
