A Fairfield business owner is opening up about his health journey in order to raise awareness during National Cancer Prevention Month.
For 61-year-old David Jetter, National Cancer Prevention Month has a special meaning. The Motivational Fitness CT founder was diagnosed with cancer in 2021. Between balancing his responsibilities as a father and undergoing radiation treatment, he says it was a challenge to keep the business going.
“I was somewhat devastated,” he said. "Knowing the treatment was going to take a lot of time, and it might possibly put me in a position to lose my business."
Two years later, Jetter is in good health and his business is thriving. He hopes his story of overcoming hardship can inspire others.
"I feel grateful and overwhelmed at times,” he said.
Jetter says faith and humility were key to getting through that dark time.
He encourages others to remember that when one door closes in life, another one always opens.
“Don't let anyone sell you short if what you're capable of doing. Always have confidence in yourself,” he said.
