Fairfield residents craving a slice of Pepe?s Pizza no longer have to suffer through a 40 minute drive to New Haven.

The famed pizzeria opened up a new store on Commerce Drive Monday, with about 100 waiting in line to try a pizza pie with their favorite toppings. Mick Massimino arrived before the line began, waiting in his car all afternoon to be the first to taste Pepe?s in Fairfield. He said he was not disappointed.

Co-owner Tony Rosselli says the oven in the new store is identical to its 80-year-old counterpart in New Haven. Rosselli adds that Pepe?s will be introducing a shrimp pizza in Fairfield. He says that if it takes off, it will be offered in New Haven as well.
