Family members are in mourning today after learning that their loved one was killed after a high-speed police chase resulted in a crash in Bridgeport. 

According to police, the suspect, Joseph Guzman-Rivera, was speeding away from Connecticut State Police Thursday when the fatal crash took place at Railroad and Iranistan avenues. Police say they stopped Guzman-Rivera on I-95 and that's when he led them on a chase that ended with him crashing into a car driven by Susan Tomcyzk. 

Tomcyzk, 61, was killed in the crash and two pedestrians, Willie Falcon, 61, and Zaraida Mendez, 65, were also rushed to the hospital with injuries.

The victim's sister, Michele Tomcyzk, says she has been crying nonstop over the loss of her sister. She says Tomcyzk was a retired Xerox copier technician who had become disabled in recent years.

"She gave a lot to everybody and she put herself second," says Tomcyzk. "My sister was the greatest person in the world."

Guzman-Rivera went before a judge Friday to face an array of charges, including illegal drug possession and injuring a police service dog.

Guzman-Rivera's bond was set at $350,000 and he's due back in court Sept. 11.

Tomcyzk's family is asking the public for help in paying for the funeral.
