Family needs help to get loved one's remains sent home
A Bridgeport family is asking for the public's help in bringing their loved one's body home from Atlanta to be buried.
Jabari Alford, 32, was well-loved in the community. He died in Georgia last week.
The family has set up a GoFundMe site to help pay for Alford's remains to be brought home.
Orlanda Austin, a close friend of Alford, says she will never forget getting the heartbreaking news on Facebook because she knew that her world would never be the same.
"It's kind of killing me right now," Austin said.
Family members say Alford died in his home in a freak accident, but did not want to go into the detail.
Austin is hoping to help raise enough money to get Alford's body back to Bridgeport so he can be buried in the city he was from.
Friends say the family is still in the process of making funeral arrangements.
