A man was fatally shot in Bridgeport marking the 12th homicide of the year for the city, officials say.
The incident happened Saturday just after 1 a.m. on Newfield Avenue and Revere Street near a convenience store and close to the BK Lounge club.
Dathan Gray 32, was shot several times and taken to Bridgeport Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators tell News 12 officers had to disburse a large crowd that formed outside of a nearby club after the shooting.
Traffic was diverted for hours as the scene was blocked off while investigators searched for evidence and spoke with witnesses.
Darryl Luckes Jr. says he saw Gray shortly before the shooting.
"If I didn't go in the club and I stayed outside, I could have stopped it," Luckes said.
State Sen. Marilyn Moore is planning a meeting to address formulating a plan to reduce gun violence in the city.
No arrests have been made.
Police ask anyone with information to contact the Bridgeport police department at 203-576-TIPS
