As the strike against Sikorsky Aircraft enters week four, a federal mediator is trying to get both sides back to the bargaining table.Leaders of Teamsters Local 1150 will meet with the federal mediator Monday. Union officials say the meeting is an indication that the process is moving forward, but they remind strikers that no talks are scheduled to happen directly with Sikorsky officials.
Over the weekend, Sikorsky sent out letters to the 3,600 strikers, urging them to cross the picket line and return to work. The union members oppose Sikorsky's contract offer because it calls for increases in health insurance payments, with out-of-pocket costs tripling by the agreement's third year.
