A Bridgeport family has found themselves dealing with the challenges of being homeless during the COVID-19 pandemic after a fire destroyed their home.
Officials say that the No. 1 safety message about protecting oneself from the virus is to “stay at home.” But what if a person does not have a home to go to?
This is the challenge the Fisher family is facing after a fire destroyed their home on the 700 block of Railroad Avenue. The April 10 fire displaced three other families as well.
The Fishers have been staying in a motel in Stratford for more than a week. The Red Cross put them up for a few nights and then after that they have had to rely on help from friends, family and the public.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help them get back on their feet.
