Officials say the head football coach at Bunnell High School in Stratford has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Superintendent Janet Robinson confirmed the decision regarding Doug Cotto, who is being investigated for allegedly making inappropriate comments. She says she heard of the allegations Wednesday night and followed procedure by putting him on leave.
Robinson told News 12 Connecticut that the nature of the alleged comments is unclear. She is not sure if the comments were made on or off the field, or if they were made in front of players.
This is Cotto's second season as head coach at Bunnell. He previously coached at Newtown High School. Robinson says the assistant coaches are leading the team in the meantime at practices and getting ready for their next game.
