Former Yankees star appears at Bridgeport charity event
Former New York Yankee and Cy Young Award winning pitcher Sparky Lyle was at the Holiday Inn in Bridgeport today to help raise money for a good cause.
Lyle was one of several celebrities to take part in the Saint Vincent Medical Center's 20th annual Swim Across the Sound Celebrity Breakfast.
Businesses and community members from across southwestern Connecticut purchased tables and left "tips" for their waiters that will benefit the charity.
Organizers say the money raised helps those who are battling cancer and have trouble making ends meet.
They say the annual Swim Across the Sound, which is a swim across Long Island Sound, will be held on July 30.
Teams of swimmers will start at Captain's Cove in Bridgeport and make their way to Long Island for the foundation.
