Former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords was in Connecticut Tuesday to push for new gun control legislation to help victims of domestic violence.
Giffords joined Gov. Dannel Malloy in Hartford to discuss the bill.
The new legislation would require subjects of restraining and protective orders to give up their guns and ammunition 24 hours after they are notified.
Critics say the proposal is not necessary because an already existing law allows police to immediately seize guns if they have a warrant.
