A GoFundMe page has been created to benefit the family of minor league baseball player from Wethersfield who died in New Zealand.
Ryan Costello played within the Minnesota Twins organization. According to a local newspaper, arrangements are being made to bring his parents to New Zealand.
Costello's coach at Central Connecticut State University said Costello was dedicated to the game.
"He would stay in the batting cage and take extra swings all day long," says coach Charlie Hickey. "Then he'd leave and go to a batting cage at night."
Officials say Costello died in his sleep Monday morning. He had reportedly appeared fine at dinner the night before.
Costello's teammates in New Zealand will have his initials embroidered on their uniforms this season.
