A Western Connecticut State University student was in a dangerous crash over the weekend on Wilbur Cross Parkway in Orange.
Kirstyn Manes, 18, credits a good Samaritan with helping her walk away from the terrifying crash.
The crash happened just before Exit 56 between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday. Manes was on her way to meet some friends when she heard what sounded like a tire pop before she lost control of her car.
Manes' car came to a halt in the middle of Wilbur Cross Parkway. She says she didn't know what to do.
However, Manes says another driver stopped, called 911, and waited with her until police arrived while directing cars around the accident.
"There was so many people like trying to get around, honking their horns...my car was totaled," said Manes.
Manes was taken to the hospital with back and neck pain but is expected to recover.
Manes and her family are looking for a way to thank the person who helped her. They're hoping the public can help them find the good Samaritan.
"As a mom, I need him to understand that what he did was the most amazing thing any person could do for anybody else. He was her guardian angel that night and we would just really love to know who they are so we can thank them," said Maria Schwerdtle, Manes' mother.
