Four Good Samaritans jumped into the Long Island Sound Tuesday to help save a father and his son who were swept off a sandbar while fishing.
Andre Dumas, of Bridgeport, says he heard the screams and jumped into the water. Dumas reached the older fisherman, Roberto Acevedo, but became exhausted, allowing another rescuer to take over.
Tony Kezer, of the Water Pollution Control Authority, was driving by when he saw the drowning men and swam out to Acevedo's son, Tito. However, Kezer says the man struggled out of his hands.
Acevedo was released from the hospital Tuesday night. His son did not survive.
