Gov. Dannel Malloy held a press conference Monday afternoon in Hartford to address the state budget crisis.
While several Democrats in the House and Senate broke with their leadership and supported the Republican-backed plan Friday, Malloy said that he does not approve the plan and would use his veto power if necessary.
“It raises hundreds of millions of dollars of taxes in revenue,” he said. “Something Republicans said they would never do."
News 12 Connecticut is told that if a budget isn’t approved by Oct. 1, major spending cuts could automatically go into effect.
