Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy vetoed a Republican-drafted state budget Thursday.
"I want a budget," the governor said -- but apparently not the one that legislators passed two weeks ago.
"It's a disappointment that the governor would not even use this bipartisan budget as a basis for future negotiations," said Republican state Rep. Gail Lavielle. "To reject the only budget plan that passed the Legislature is irresponsible."
Republican state Sen. Len Fasano said there is a chance legislators could override the video.
Malloy opposed the measure from the start, although some members of his party backed the measure in order to avoid steep spending cuts that will likely go into effect Sunday without a deal.
