(04/13/06) GREENWICH ? Greenwich residents vented their frustrations before the Board of Selectman on the controversial issue of car carrier unloading at Grass Island Park.
Residents say the park was not designed to accommodate large 18-wheelers. In addition, they believe the practice poses a safety threat to people using the park for recreational purposes. One resident says she must stand up and defend her neighborhood, which she feels is under attack.
Despite the strong feelings among residents, the Board of Selectmen chose to stand pat for now. The Representative Town Meeting (RTM) is currently taking a look at the issue. Board of Selectmen members say they?ll wait to make a ruling based on the RTM?s opinion.
