Greenwich Town leaders mull plans for $8M downtown facelift
The Greenwich Budget Committee met Thursday to discuss how town leaders plan to spend $8 million to renovate the downtown area.
First Selectman Jim Lash appeared before the committee to discuss the type of improvements he would like to see. Under his master plan, Lash says Greenwich Avenue is a target. He wants to see more long-term parking spaces, new sidewalks and the addition of electronic parking kiosks.
The first selectman says also up for debate is what to do with the Board of Education building. Lash says a private donor has offered $30 million to turn the building into a performing arts center, which means the BOE building would move to Old Town Hall.
