Hamden police have identified the three people killed in a car accident over the weekend.
Police say 21-year-old Monroe resident Maksims Frolovs was driving along the Route 40 connector when he lost control and hit a tree early Sunday morning.
They say he died along with his passengers, Edmonds Mihalenkos, a Bridgeport 26-year-old, and a 29-year-old woman from Derby.
According to police, the cause of the accident is under investigation, but the SUV was apparently speeding over a wet road at the time.
"It's a parent's worst nightmare," says Hamden Police Capt. Ronald Smith. "They're young adults, fatal crash early in the morning, just very, very, very tragic."
Frolovs' wake will be Friday in Fairfield, followed by a funeral in Monroe.
