Local municipalities throughout southwestern Connecticut reported minor flooding Friday as strong winds and heavy rain swept through the region.
In Bridgeport, Fairfield Avenue was reopened after being shut down earlier in the day due to flooding, with water rising to 6 inches at the deepest point of the street.
Meanwhile, Department of Public Works crews in Darien continued inspecting storm drains in order to make sure that nothing was obstructing the flow of water.
?We're real close to a brook, so even the brook sometimes will overflow,? says a crew member. ?So any preventative measures we can take helps the people that live closer to the problem areas, or the low lying areas.?
