Fire officials were back at the scene of a massive fire at a Fairfield lumberyard and also said that the fire is "suspicious."
Firefighters extinguished potential hot spots Wednesday at the old Fairfield lumberyard on Thorpe Street, which went up in flames a day earlier. The lumberyard hadn't been active in years but was being used for storage, officials said.
The owners had expressed concern in the past about children and vandals at the lumberyard, according to officials.
Flames shot out of the structure. Firefighters broke through a fence on Anne Melko's property in order to fight the massive blaze.
Most of the internal structures were badly damaged, and the structure will likely be demolished, according to officials.
