An outpouring of support from patrons and offers from new investors helped save the Black Duck in Westport from 'quacking' its last meal.
Owner Peter Aitkin announced last week that he was going to close the restaurant due to mounting bills and slow weekends. He says a lot of fond memories have been made at the Black Duck so he is thrilled he will be able to stay open.
"We've had a lot of private parties where a wife gives a surprise party for her husband's 40th birthday cause they met here, or their 20th anniversary cause they met or got engaged here," says Aitkin. "So we've been responsible for a lot of marriages. I'm sure a few divorces too, but I don't hear about them."
This Sunday was supposed to be the Black Duck's last day of business, but instead it will be a day of celebration with happy hour prices and a 'quacking' good time.
