Joe Ganim officially declared winner in Bridgeport Democratic mayoral primary
Joe Ganim has officially been declared the winner of the Bridgeport Democratic mayoral primary, beating out incumbent Mayor Bill Finch.
Ganim has been working on his political comeback after serving seven years in prison on a 2003 corruption conviction.
Finch has led Bridgeport since 2007 and touted recent development projects on the campaign trail Wednesday night.
The two men are expected to face off again in the November general election to decide who will lead the state's largest city. Finch has until Oct. 13 to run as a third-party candidate.
Mary Jane Foster conceded early Wednesday with only about 10 percent of the vote. She says she will decide next week on whether she will be on November's ballot as an independent.
If she drops out, Foster says she will not throw her support behind Finch or Ganim.
