Judge’s conduct at daughter’s school put into question at hearing
Thursday was the second day into a hearing for a Union County Superior Court judge accused of violating the code of conduct after her daughter wasn't allowed to play on a boys' basketball team.
Judge Theresa Mullen sued Saint Theresa's School in Kenilworth after her daughter, Sydney, wasn't allowed to play on the team. The school said she could not play on the team because she missed the deadline to sign up.
There was no girls' team at the school, so Mullen and her husband, Scott Phillips, sued.
School rules state that if any parent sues the school, their children must be removed – so the girl and her sister were not allowed to attend the school.
Mullen took the girls back to school and was asked by police and school administrators to leave. She was found guilty of trespassing, prompting the formal ethics complaint to be filed.
