Jury deadlocked for 2nd time in Bridgeport murder trial
A Bridgeport jury said Wednesday that it was deadlocked for the second time in the murder trial of a man accused of shooting nine people, including one fatally, at a public housing project last summer.
Jamal Hamilton's attorney has said all along that there is simply not enough evidence in the case. Hamilton is accused of firing at least some shots at the Trumbull Gardens in June 2015. One of the nine victims, Savonie McNeil, died.
Police said McNeil was an innocent bystander, and one of his friends said Wednesday that he'd be devastated if no one goes to jail for his death.
The judge has not said how long he is willing to keep the jury before dismissing them and declaring a mistrial.
The jury will return Thursday, and the defense lawyer said it is looking more likely that the trial will end in a hung jury.
