Connecticut lawmakers are expected to make a compromise deal today over how much restaurant servers should get paid

The bill revolves around how much money waiters are paid for non-server duties — like cleaning and even filling ketchup bottles.

At least a dozen restaurants have been sued for allegedly underpaying servers even though the establishments were following the

state’s own guidelines.

A new compromise out today would only require restaurants to make up the difference between the tipped wage and the full minimum wage.

State lawmakers will hold a public hearing on the proposed deal tomorrow.
