A Bridgeport company has come up with a solution for employees doubling as teachers this fall.
Santa Energy Corporation in Bridgeport created learning pods for their employees with school-aged children. So far, there are 11 students from six districts from first-grade through high school that are using the company’s classroom.
Teacher Lori O'Driscoll helps guide the students throughout the day. She says she is excited to help with whatever curriculum the children may have, and is creating enrichment work for them as she gets to know her students.
"I'm honored to be able to help these students and also to provide these parents with a peace of mind that remote learning doesn't have to be no learning," she says.
Santa Energy told News 12 that it plans to have learning pods for the students for as long they are needed.
Lia Short, the company’s director of human resources, helped to create learning pods inside the building.
"This way our employees could continue to be efficient…could still provide excellent customer service for the customers," she says.
