Four lifeguards from southwestern Connecticut are being honored by the state Wednesday for a job well done.
The lifeguards worked at either Sherwood Island State Park in Westport or Silver Sands State Park in Milford this summer. The life-saving rescues involved all ages, from an 8-year-old who was unable to swim, to a 72-year-old who was found face down in the water.
The lifeguard honorees include Jane Danford, of New Canaan, Jonathan Hartenbaum, of Weston, Margaux Canevari, of Stratford, and Daniel Clifford, of Milford.
The DEP commissioner is also awarding nine other lifeguards from throughout Connecticut.
