New Canaan police confirmed today one of two hand grenades found at a home was a live explosive.
Police say a woman was cleaning out her garage on Whitney Avenue when she found the two World War II-era grenades last week.
They say they called in the Stamford bomb squad to investigate.
They say they immediately determined one grenade had been hollowed out, but the other was live and had to be detonated safely.
