The city of Norwalk held a flag ceremony at City Hall Monday to celebrate United Nations Day Monday along with the Southwest Connecticut United Nations Association Chapter of Westport.
A proclamation was read along with the U.N. Secretary General's remarks about UN Day 2022.
Organizers say people can make a difference locally.
"The world is in dire conflict, with the war over in Ukraine and then food shortages everywhere, and oil and resources are all short in supply, so it's important that we recognize the United Nations and back it as a body that can help solve these issues throughout the world," said Derick Demarche.
Oct. 24 marks the anniversary of the U.N.'s global observance since 1948.
