Local filmmakers’ documentary on weatherworn Shore Road in the Bronx spurs DOT repairs
A battered-weatherworn road in the Bronx is finally getting a much needed makeover by the city's Department of Transportation after two local filmmakers made a documentary about its hazards.
The DOT says it has paved two sections of Shore Road in the Bronx; one section is about 500 feet, and it says there is still more work to be completed.
"It's great that the city is paying attention to Shore Road now and monitoring it for needed repairs," says one of the two brothers behind the documentary.
This past winter, the Breen brothers saw how bad the popular, yet problematic, road was becoming for drivers so they decided to document the issues using a drone.
The drone footage they captured four months ago shows how driving conditions become dangerous due to flooding and potholes.
"The city had filled the potholes, but it was still a pretty bumpy ride. Now, it's nice and smooth like the way a road should be."
The city says it is also replacing 20 lights along Shore Road to allow for better visibility at night.
