Local government buildings throughout southwestern Connecticut are offering shelter to help residents beat the heat. In addition to air conditioning, the Stamford Government Center offers residents use of Internet service, bathrooms and water fountains. Stamford officials say the building will be open 24 hours a day for the rest of the week. Residents are also encouraged to take advantage the Milford and Westport senior centers, which have been set up as cooling centers. Related Information: Connecticut Cooling Centers
