(06/08/06) GREENWICH ? Logistical problems and complaints from some residents could be enough to stomp out a popular annual fireworks show in Greenwich.
Greenwich Selectman Peter Crumbine (R) says the show was originally going to be held at Greenwich High School. However, that idea had to be scrapped due to fears of potential damage to new synthetic playing fields. The show was then moved to Todd?s Point, but a narrow access road has some people worried about a massive traffic headache.
In addition, people who live near Todd?s Point have complained to Crumbine about having the show in their neighborhood. The selectman says if the show can?t be held at Todd?s Point, it will most likely have to be canceled. According to Crumbine, the final decision will be made by the first selectman and the parks department. That decision could be made Monday.
