A local quartet is helping Connecticut residents say, "I love you" in a unique way.
Every Valentine's Day, Christopher Lafayette, of the Coastal Chordsmen, sings for his mother, Jane, who has severe Alzheimer's disease.
The group says they dedicate the day to delivering singing valentines to loved one who want their special someone to feel important.
"It's all for love, it's all for what we do. It brings music back into their lives, which is what music's all about," says Lafayette.
Lafayette says that this is not your average Valentine's Day gift, it's about healing too.
"One thing I've learned working with my mother and other people who are inflicted with dementia, music is something they'll always remember," Lafayette says.
When the Lafayette family needs Jane to recall something, songs are the way to unlock parts of her brain.
"That's what music's all bout- it's about love. It's about experiencing that," says Lafayette.
The Coastal Chordsmen say all proceeds from singing valentines go to local scholarships and charitable organizations.
