Gov. Dannel Malloy signed a bill Friday to let undocumented immigrant students at Connecticut's public colleges and universities qualify for financial aid.
The group CT Students for a Dream has been working toward making the bill a reality for the past five years through rallies, marches and organizing efforts.
All Connecticut public college and university students, as a percentage of their tuition, pay into the funds that provide institutional aid. Before the bill was passed, undocumented students did not have access to it.
Malloy says the bill will allow the so-called Dreamers to be treated equally.
