The man accused of bringing a homemade explosive device to a crowded Jersey Shore bar is out of jail.
Thomas Kaiser brought a homemade firework to Donovan's Reef last weekend, according to police.
A search of his home turned up more explosives, causing the South Plainfield Labor Day parade to be canceled.
Kaiser is charged with possession of a destructive device and could face up to 10 years in prison, if convicted.
According to the Asbury Park Press, Kaiser's attorney explained that the firework was left as a gift for band member who was playing at the bar.
The report says Superior Court Judge Paul X. Escandon Friday ordered the release of Kaiser, but with stipulations. He was ordered not to possess weapons, told to stay away from the bar, cannot use alcohol or drugs and must report to court staff weekly.
