Maritime Aquarium worker retires after nearly 3 decades
The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk is saying goodbye to one of its most popular attractions today, but it's not one of the animals.
Vicki Sawyer, who helped build the aquarium back in the 80s, is retiring after nearly three decades.
She is one of the head seal trainers at the aquarium.
About a half-million people come to the aquarium every year, and many of them say they don't just come to see the seals, but Sawyer as well.
Sawyer loves performing but says it's the quiet time with the animals that she'll miss most.
However, Sawyer won't stop working with animals just because she's retiring. She's moving to Maine to run a sheep farm.
