Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced $27 million in funding to install security cameras at 49 public housing buildings across the city.
The plan includes several NYCHA complexes in the Bronx, and comes in response to the double stabbing of two young children in a housing authority building elevator in Brooklyn.
The stabbing claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy and seriously injured a 7-year-old girl in East New York more than a week ago. Police have charged 27-year-old Daniel St. Hubert in connection with the attack.
News 12 also reported this week that the NYPD is breaking down crime data committed at NYCHA complexes and making the information available online.
