Mayor David Martin was elected to a second term in Stamford.
Martin ran against Republican candidate Barry Michaelson and Petitioning candidate John Zito Jr.
Martin claimed victory pretty early on in the night, losing just one precinct by only five votes.
The election comes at a time of several hot button issues in the city.
Stamford has been growing so fast, causing overcrowding, traffic and parking issues.
Mayor Martin says he understands those concerns, but will not close the door on development because it's too important for the future of the city.
Martin says his team has been working hard to spear the city in a better direction.
The Democrats also kept a majority on the board of education, board of finance, and several seats on the board of representatives.
