Metro-North back on track after stuck bridge
Metro-North says the New Haven Line ran on its regular Sunday schedule after a bridge in Norwalk malfunctioned, causing delays for weekend travelers.
The Walk Bridge over the Norwalk River got stuck in the open position Saturday afternoon.
As a result, trains from the South Norwalk, Rowayton, Darien and Noroton Heights stations were not able to go to New York for several hours.
Metro-North says three of the four tracks on the bridge can now be used, but it will be closed to river traffic until further notice. Trains will also run on a Sunday schedule for Memorial Day tomorrow.
Transportation officials met with residents earlier this month to address replacing the bridge. Sen. Richard Blumenthal says yesterday's failure shows the urgency to get the job done.
