Successful women in business were celebrated at the Milford Chamber of Commerce's annual Women's History Month Luncheon at Bin 100 Restaurant Friday.

The theme of this year's event was Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

Both Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz and Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas attend.

The pair tell News 12 by supporting women-owned businesses people are also supporting their local communities.

"For every dollar that you spend in those businesses, two-thirds of it stays right in the community and women are using the money to support other businesses, to employee other people and we all have a vested interest in uplifting women," says Bysiewicz.
