A Kmart store in Milford will close its doors in November.
The company announced on Wednesday that it would be shutting down more than 40 locations nationwide.
Sears Holdings, Kmart's parent company, says those locations were unprofitable and will be shuttered in order to strengthen the company and focus on the best stores.
Liquidation sales will begin as early as Aug. 30. Employees will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at surrounding Kmart or Sears stores.
Kmart's impending closure in Milford will result in a total of six empty storefronts at the Liberty Rock Shopping Center on Bridgeport Avenue.
There was no word on whether another retailer would fill the space.
Two Kmarts remain in Connecticut -- in Watertown and Danbury. Those locations at the moment have no plans to shut down.
