The city of Milford will receive $2.5 million to move its Boys and Girls Club, officials say.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal and local officials were in Milford today to talk about the federal financial aid the city is receiving.
A portion of the money is expected to be used to renovate the Boys and Girls Club at the former Saint Gabriel School on Tudor Road which the city recently purchased.
The club will be moved from its current location at 59 Devonshire Road in Milford.
The nonprofit says more than 600 children depend on services offered by the programs, which range from education to the arts to sports and fitness.
Sen. Blumenthal says the funding will allow the Boys and Girls Club of Milford to expand its operations and facilities within the city.
Sen. Blumenthal says the Boys and Girls Club can double its membership and increase its daily attendance with an expansion from the funds.
The city says renovations will take place over the next year.
The official opening date has not yet been set.
